Opera Aida was originally composed by Verdi on the occasion of the opening of the Suez Canal. It took him much longer than expected, and was revealed a year after the canal's inauguration.
In 1987, Opera Aida was performed for the first time ever in a historical place at the Temple of Luxor with Placido Domingo as the Tenor. This was a three day event that attracted the world's eminent stars, politicians & businessmen. Many of them arrived by private jets and Concorde to attend one of the performances then return home after the evening.
Several performances have then been organized since in different historical venues in Egypt, the last was back in 2008.
This coming performance in December 2014 will mark the first with the cooperation of the Latvians, known to own the best Opera team in the world. But most importantly, it will be the first over the era of NEW EGYPT, proving to the world that we are back creating history and unique memories.
